Maxime Cheurlin-Noëllat

Maxime Cheurlin-Noëllat is the label of Maxime Cheurlin, who has run Domaine Georges Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée since 2010, for wines made from grapes bought under contract. They are made in the same cellar and in the same way as the domaine wines.

Maxime Cheurlin is the great-grandson of Georges Noëllat, the founder of the Vosne-Romanée domaine that bears his name. From 1990 to 2009 most of the domaine's production was sold to négociants; Maxime took over the winemaking in 2010, at the age of twenty. Alongside the domaine wines he makes a range from grapes bought under contract, some of them from vines his team works itself, and bottles them under his own name.

The wines share the domaine's method: a long élevage in barrel, with about half new oak on average. Winehog describes the style as refined and light on its feet, intense without weight.

The range here covers much of the Côte de Nuits and a little of the Côte de Beaune: Chambolle-Musigny and its premier cru Les Feusselottes, Morey-Saint-Denis and Les Monts Luisants, Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Damodes, Clos de Vougeot, the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, and white Chassagne-Montrachet.
