Grand Cru Βουργουνδίας

This page gathers every Burgundy sold under a grand cru appellation, the top of the region's hierarchy. There are 33 of them, each a climat with its own appellation, and together they make about one percent of the region's wine.

A grand cru in Burgundy is a place, not an estate. The 33 grands crus are climats judged, over centuries, to give the best wine of their village, and each is an appellation in its own right: the label says Richebourg or Corton-Charlemagne, without the name of the village. Most lie in the Côte de Nuits, where they are almost all red: Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze at Gevrey, Clos de la Roche and Clos de Tart at Morey, Musigny and Bonnes-Mares at Chambolle, Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux and Grands-Échezeaux at Vougeot and Flagey, and the six of Vosne-Romanée, Richebourg among them.

The Côte de Beaune adds Corton, the only red grand cru of the Côte de Beaune, and the white grands crus: Corton-Charlemagne on the same hill, then Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and its neighbours between Puligny and Chassagne. Chablis has a single grand cru appellation divided into seven climats. Several estates with a page here hold grands crus in more than one village: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Ponsot, Domaine Jean Grivot, Domaine Dugat-Py and Domaine Ramonet.

The page follows the classification on each wine's label. The wines above are every grand cru Burgundy in the cellar. For the rank below, see the premier cru Burgundy; for the whole region, the Burgundy wines.
