Promoted to its own cru in 1990, Vacqueyras occupies the plain and lower slopes south of Gigondas. The ground is sandier and the climate warmer, and both show directly in the glass.

Grenache and Syrah give black fruit, pepper and garrigue, with more flesh and less tension than Gigondas. The wines are ready earlier and ask less than the neighbouring crus.
