This page gathers the Champagnes of the great houses, the négociants-manipulants who buy grapes across the region and blend them in their own cellars. Fourteen names are on the list, from Bollinger and Taittinger to Louis Roederer, Ruinart and Dom Pérignon, the prestige label of Moët & Chandon.

In Champagne the label tells you who made the wine. A négociant-manipulant, marked NM, buys grapes, musts or wines and makes Champagne on its own premises; the great houses all work this way, drawing on vineyards across an appellation of 319 crus to build a house style that stays the same from one year to the next. The Comité Champagne counts 370 registered houses. Every Champagne, from a house or a grower, spends at least 15 months in the cellar for a non-vintage wine and three years for a vintage, counted from bottling.

This page holds thirteen houses and one prestige label: Taittinger, Bollinger, Ruinart, Moët & Chandon and its Dom Pérignon, Louis Roederer, Jacquesson, Perrier-Jouët, Veuve Clicquot, Joseph Perrier, Henriot, Pol Roger, Billecart-Salmon and Philipponnat. Their vintage wines and prestige cuvées, Comtes de Champagne, La Grande Année, Cristal, Dom Ruinart, Sir Winston Churchill, Clos des Goisses, are the bottles we look for, often with some age.

The other side of Champagne, the growers who make wine only from their own vines, has its own page: grower Champagne. The grand cru and premier cru pages sort the wines by the rank of their village.

The wines above are the current selection from these houses. See all our Champagne or the new arrivals.
