Charles Joblot founded the domaine in Givry in 1946, the year the appellation itself was recognized. At the time the harvest was sold to négociants rather than bottled on site. In the late 1960s his son Marc broke away from that model and began selling the estate's entire production in bottle. Marc's sons, Jean-Marc and Vincent Joblot, took the wines further, developing export markets in North America from the early 1980s. Hélène Sarkis took over as managing director in 2021, after working at Zind-Humbrecht in Alsace, with Marie-Thérèse Chappaz in Switzerland and at Château Palmer in Bordeaux, and now works alongside the two brothers.
The estate covers 14 hectares in the heart of Givry, most of it planted more than four decades ago. Synthetic products are banned in the vineyard, cover is grown naturally or seeded between rows, and every harvest is picked by hand. In the cellar, fermentation relies on native yeasts and interventions are kept light, with free sulfite at bottling capped around 20mg/l for reds and 25mg/l for whites. The domaine began organic certification in April 2024. Its flagship site is Clos du Cellier aux Moines, the largest premier cru of the appellation at 13.5 hectares in total, of which the domaine farms two hectares on the southwest side, over clay and limestone soils capped with brown earth.
At Dynamic Cellars, we carry the Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier aux Moines 1993 from Domaine Joblot. It fits well with our Burgundy range and our premier cru selection, and for collectors, our red wines and collector wines collections are worth a look.
