Olivier Leflaive founded the house in 1984. He belongs to the Leflaive family of Puligny-Montrachet, and from 1990 he co-ran Domaine Leflaive alongside his cousin Anne-Claude Leflaive; by 1994 Anne-Claude had taken sole control of that domaine, while Olivier continued building his own, separate négociant house. In 1997 the house opened a table d'hôtes, Table d'Olivier, which later grew into a hotel and several restaurants alongside the wine business.

The vineyard covers 26 hectares across 82 climats, mainly in Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, with further holdings in the Côte Chalonnaise and Chablis. Some parcels were inherited within the family, others acquired over the following decades, and together they include a number of Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites. The house farms with High Environmental Value certification at level 3, working the soil by ploughing and mechanical weeding, pruning to respect the sap flow of each vine, and limiting yields plot by plot rather than by fixed rule. Beyond its own vineyard, the house also works with growers in the surrounding villages to complete its range.
