The Pelissero family grew grapes in Treiso for generations before the estate became independent in 1957. In 1960 Luigi Pelissero bottled its first wine, from the Vanotu vineyard. His son Giorgio, who trained as an oenologist, took charge of the winery in the late 1980s.

The estate farms 42 hectares of its own vineyards in Treiso, Neive, Barbaresco and Neviglie, with named plots such as Vanotu, Tulin, Piani and Augenta. Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto make up 85 percent of production. The grapes are pressed gently and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and the wines age in French oak in proportions that vary from one wine to the next: the Vanotu goes entirely into new barriques, while Nubiola and Tulin age in a mix of barriques and larger casks.

At Dynamic Cellars, we carry two different wines from the estate: the Barbaresco Nubiola 2009, from several small plots in Treiso, Barbaresco and Neive, and the Barbera d'Alba Piani 2010, from the Piani vineyard in Treiso, known as Ronchi until 1990.
