The Moreau and Naudet families have worked vines around Chablis since at least the 17th century. The domaine itself was founded in 1950, when Marie Naudet married René Moreau, combining the two family vineyards under one name. Stéphane Moreau, the couple's grandson, took over the estate from his father Roger in 1991. He died in 2016. Since then, his wife Virginie Naudet has run the domaine with the same team.

The estate covers 25.5 hectares of vines, of which about 20 hectares are bottled and sold under the domaine's name. Farming is done without herbicides or pesticides, and the grapes are picked by hand across every plot. In the cellar, fermentation relies on native yeasts with only a small addition of sulfite, and the wines rest on fine lees, an approach used at every appellation level, from Petit Chablis to grand cru. The domaine's holdings run from Chichée, source of the Petit Chablis, through village Chablis parcels in Prehy and Courgis, to premier cru sites including Vaillons (assembled from Epinottes, Roncières and Sécher), Montmains and Forêts, and a 0.6-hectare parcel of Valmur grand cru worked by horse.
