François Leroy founded Maison Leroy in 1868 at Auxey-Duresses, as a négociant buying and ageing wines from across Burgundy. Lalou Bize-Leroy joined the house as managing director in 1971. In 1988 she bought the vineyards of Domaine Charles Noëllat and created Domaine Leroy, whose vines have been farmed biodynamically since that year and are certified by Ecocert.

The domaine works about 22 hectares and makes some 40,000 bottles a year, among them the grands crus Chambertin, Musigny, Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Clos de la Roche and Corton-Charlemagne, with premiers crus of Nuits-Saint-Georges such as Les Boudots.

The bottles gathered here carry the Leroy name. Vintages older than 1988, such as the Chambertin 1984, come from Maison Leroy; the later ones may come from the domaine or from the négoce, as the label says.
