The Leflaive family has lived in Puligny-Montrachet since 1717. From the 1920s Joseph Leflaive replanted and extended the family vines into the domaine it is today. Anne-Claude Leflaive took charge in 1994 and moved the whole vineyard to biodynamics during the 1990s; the grands crus and some premiers crus are still ploughed by horse. Since 2015 the domaine has been run by Brice de La Morandière, great-grandson of the founder.

The heart of the range is Puligny-Montrachet: the premiers crus Les Pucelles, Les Combettes and Les Folatières, then the grands crus Chevalier-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. Beyond Puligny the domaine makes Meursault premier cru Sous le Dos d'Âne, a Bourgogne blanc and a Mâcon-Verzé from the Mâconnais. The wines age about twelve months in barrel, with around a quarter new oak, then spend a second winter in steel tank before bottling.
