Romain Guiberteau has run his family's estate in Montreuil-Bellay, in the Saumur appellation, since 1996. He trained under Nady Foucault at Clos Rougeard before returning to work the family vines.

The vineyard covers about 16 hectares spread across Montreuil-Bellay, Brézé and Bizay, planted mostly to Chenin Blanc with some Cabernet Franc. Some parcels are more than 60 years old, rooted in clay and limestone soils where tuffeau lies close to the surface. The estate has been certified organic since 2003; soil work, cover crops and treatments limited to sulfur, copper and plant decoctions replace synthetic inputs. Harvest is done entirely by hand, with sorting carried out in the vineyard. In the cellar, fermentation relies on indigenous yeast and aging is often long, with as little intervention as possible. The Brézé whites include the Clos des Carmes and Clos de Guichaux bottlings.
