Domaine de la Vougeraie

Domaine de la Vougeraie was created in 1999 by the Boisset family, who gathered the best vineyards they had acquired over thirty years into one estate based at Prémeaux-Prissey. Its 42 hectares, farmed biodynamically since 2001, hold parcels in nine grands crus and a monopole, the Clos Blanc de Vougeot.

Jean-Claude and Claudine Boisset and their children Nathalie and Jean-Charles founded the domaine in 1999 to bring the family's best vineyards, bought over three decades, under one name and one estate. The estate has been farmed organically from the start and biodynamically since the 2001 vintage; the whole domaine follows the method, with its own herb garden for the preparations and horses to plough the best plots. The team works from two bases, Morey-Saint-Denis for the Côte de Nuits and Beaune for the Côte de Beaune, and makes about 37 cuvées a year.

The holdings run the length of the Côte. In the Côte de Nuits: Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Clos de Vougeot and Charmes-Chambertin (Les Mazoyères). The domaine also holds Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vougeot, where it owns the premier cru Clos Blanc de Vougeot outright: the village's historic white wine, planted with Chardonnay since the Cistercians. In the Côte de Beaune: Corton Clos du Roi, Charlemagne, the domaine's Corton-Charlemagne bottled under the Charlemagne appellation, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet, with Chassagne-Montrachet.
