Alexandre Bain bought a five-hectare vineyard in the lieu-dit of Boisfleury, within the Pouilly-Fumé appellation, in 2007, after working in a number of vineyards across the Loire Valley. His aim was to produce Sauvignon Blanc that departed from the traditional Pouilly-Fumé style. The vineyard has since grown to eleven hectares.

Alexandre Bain farms his vines organically and biodynamically. Harvest is done entirely by hand, and the vines are ploughed with horses rather than tractors. In the cellar he limits intervention, working toward wines that reflect their site and vintage. Because his wines differ so much from the typical Pouilly-Fumé profile, the appellation's authority refused to certify them under the Pouilly-Fumé name in 2014; since then they have been labeled Vin de France, which leaves him free to bottle single-vineyard cuvées and blends outside the appellation's rules.
