Benoit Ente

Benoît Ente runs a small grower estate in Puligny-Montrachet, the younger brother of fellow winemaker Arnaud Ente. He made his first vintage under his own name in 1999, working parcels that came down through his family, and expanded the estate to six hectares after buying further vines in 2014. The domaine today farms organically across Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and regional Bourgogne appellations.

Benoît Ente is the younger brother of Arnaud Ente, and like him works his vines from a base in Puligny-Montrachet. He made his first vintage under his own label in 1999, building on parcels that came down through his family. In 2014 he added further vineyard land, bringing the estate to six hectares in total.

The domaine farms its vines organically, without chemical fertilisers. In the cellar, grapes are lightly crushed and pressed over about three hours, then left to settle for a day before fermentation in wood: fifteen to twenty hectolitre foudres alongside barrels of 228, 300 and 600 litres, with some glass vessels also in use. The wines age for about eighteen months before bottling, sealed with cork and wax.
