Producer signature
Cos d'Estournel, a second growth of the 1855 classification, stands at Saint-Estèphe on the border with Pauillac; it was founded by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel in 1791 and has been owned by Michel Reybier since 2000. The vineyard covers 100 hectares, two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot; the vines average 45 years, and those used for the grand vin 55. Since 2008 the wine has been made in a gravity-flow cellar without pumping, in the cone-shaped stainless steel vats the estate introduced in 2003.
