Condrieu is the historic home of Viognier, a handful of terraces on granite and loess just south of Côte-Rôtie. The variety nearly disappeared here in the 1960s, when the appellation was down to a few hectares.

The style is unmistakable: apricot and violet, low acidity carried by texture rather than tension. Almost all of it is dry, and almost all of it is drunk within five years.
