Chevalier-Montrachet

The appellation was recognised on 31 July 1937 and covers 7 hectares and 59 ares, of which 7.48 were in production in 2023, all on the commune of Puligny. The vines lie between 265 and 290 metres, facing east and south, on thin, stony clay-limestone soils. Twenty estates declared a harvest in 2023, for 298 hectolitres at 40 hectolitres per hectare, about 40,000 bottles. Within the cru, the climat Les Demoiselles, one hectare at its northern end next to the premier cru Le Cailleret, keeps its own name on the label.

The wine is gold with mineral highlights, with spice, honey, dried fruit, fern and a buttery note; harmonious, structured, unctuous and deep, it keeps for at least ten to fifteen years. Montrachet lies directly below, and the premiers crus of Puligny, Le Cailleret and Les Pucelles among them, continue the slope to the north.
