Domaine Emmanuel Rouget

Emmanuel Rouget learned winemaking from his uncle Henri Jayer and took over his vines at Flagey-Échezeaux. The domaine, now run with his sons Nicolas and Guillaume, makes the Vosne-Romanée premier cru Cros Parantoux that Jayer made famous.

Emmanuel Rouget came to wine through his uncle Henri Jayer, who gave him a job in 1976. From 1989 he bottled Cros Parantoux under his own label, and in 1996 Jayer handed him his vineyards. Jayer kept a hand in the cellar until the 2001 vintage, the last to carry his own name. Since 2002 the Cros Parantoux from these vines has been Rouget's alone, from a parcel of a little over 0.7 hectare.

The domaine is based at Flagey-Échezeaux, between Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Emmanuel Rouget now works with his sons Nicolas and Guillaume, and the method follows what Jayer taught: close attention to the vineyard and traditional Burgundian vinification.

The range covers the ladder of the Côte de Nuits. At the top stand Échezeaux grand cru and the Cros Parantoux premier cru in Vosne-Romanée. Below them come Vosne-Romanée village, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côte de Nuits-Villages, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and a Bourgogne Passe-tout-grains.
