Domaine Ponsot

Domaine Ponsot was established at Morey-Saint-Denis in 1872 and has stayed in the family for five generations. Its name is tied to the Clos de la Roche, where some of its vines were planted before 1911, and to a rare white premier cru made from Aligoté.

The domaine dates from 1872 and describes itself as five generations of winegrowers at the heart of the grands crus of the Côte de Nuits. Its emblem is the Clos de la Roche, whose oldest vines were planted before 1911 and give the Cuvée Vieilles Vignes. The estate is also known for the Clos des Monts Luisants, a premier cru of Morey-Saint-Denis made from Aligoté, a rarity in Burgundy.

Beyond Morey, the range reaches across the Côte: Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Griotte-Chambertin at Gevrey, Clos de Vougeot, and, in the Côte de Beaune, Corton and Corton-Charlemagne. Village and regional cuvées sit below them: the Cuvée des Grives in Morey-Saint-Denis, the Cuvée de l'Abeille in Gevrey-Chambertin, and the Cuvée du Pinson, a regional Bourgogne made since 2017. The cellars are on the rue de la Montagne, in the village itself.
