Sine Qua Non is a California winery founded in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl. Based in Oakview, Ventura County, the winery works mainly with Rhône varieties across small, individually named releases. Each vintage is sold by allocation to a mailing list rather than through general retail.

Sine Qua Non was founded in 1994 by Manfred Krankl and his wife Elaine. Manfred Krankl, born in Austria, moved to the United States in 1980. The couple's first wine was a Syrah from the 1994 vintage, made in a batch of four and a half barrels and named Queen of Spades. The winery is based in Oakview, in Ventura County, California, where a new production facility was completed in 2012.

Sine Qua Non works mainly with Rhône varieties, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre for its red wines and Roussanne, Viognier and Marsanne for its whites, drawn from vineyards in Ventura County and from sites near Buellton in the Santa Rita Hills. The winery also farms smaller plantings of other varieties, including Petit Manseng, Touriga Nacional, Graciano and Petite Sirah. Wines are sold by allocation to a mailing list of customers rather than through open retail distribution.
