Italo Nervi founded the winery in 1906 in Gattinara, the Nebbiolo appellation of northern Piedmont. The estate farms 28.5 hectares of Nebbiolo, among them the crus Molsino and Valferana, and Garavoglie and Casacce.

In 2018 Roberto Conterno, who runs Giacomo Conterno in Monforte d'Alba, bought the estate and rebuilt the cellar with the same equipment he uses in Barolo. The wines are made the same way: macerations of three to four weeks, then 30 to 34 months of ageing before bottling, with an extra year in bottle for the single-vineyard Gattinaras. The range runs from the Gattinara to Vigna Molsino and Vigna Valferana, with a rosato. The bottles here cover the vintages 2016 to 2023, the first years of the new cellar.
