Vincent Girardin founded the domaine in 1980, at nineteen years old, drawing on a family winemaking tradition in Santenay that dates to the seventeenth century. He began with two hectares inherited from his parents and built the estate's reputation on the white and red wines of the Côte de Beaune. In the early 2000s, winemaker Eric Germain joined the house and helped sharpen its focus on expressing the region's terroirs. In 2012, Vincent Girardin sold the estate to Monsieur Nié, president of the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois in Beaune. The existing nine-person team stayed in place, with Eric Germain continuing as winemaker and Marco Caschera handling international sales.
The estate farms parcels across eleven villages of the Côte de Beaune, including Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Beaune, Aloxe-Corton, Volnay, Pommard and Saint-Romain. Viticulture follows biodynamic principles, with manual harvesting and natural methods of pest management. In the cellar, the approach favors minimal intervention, letting each parcel's massale-selected vines carry through to the finished wine. Production is built entirely around Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with bottlings ranging from village wines to Premier Cru and Grand Cru.
