The Desvignes family has worked vines at Villié-Morgon for eight generations, with records of the family's winemaking going back to 1712. Claude-Emmanuelle Desvignes succeeded her father Louis-Claude at the head of the domaine in 2001, and her brother Louis-Benoît joined the management in 2004. The domaine began converting to organic farming in 2005.

The thirteen-hectare vineyard is planted entirely to Gamay, spread over several named parcels including Javernières and part of the Côte du Py. Yields are kept low, at around 35 hectolitres per hectare. The wine is vinified parcel by parcel, using whole clusters or partial destemming depending on the vintage, then aged for about ten months in concrete vats on the fine lees, with only minimal use of sulfites at vatting and at bottling.
