Château Tertre Roteboeuf is a small Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate on a steep, south-facing slope at the edge of the limestone plateau. It belongs to François Mitjavile, who also runs Château Roc de Cambes across the river in Côtes de Bourg.

The vineyard covers 5.7 hectares on a steep slope at the edge of a limestone plateau in Saint-Émilion, planted mainly to Merlot, at about 80% of the blend, with Cabernet Franc for the rest. The incline and exposure of the site let the grapes catch the sun late into the afternoon, which pushes ripening later than on the flatter ground nearby.

Grapes are picked by hand, then fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats. The wine is aged for 18 months in barrels that are entirely new each vintage, a choice matched with deliberately low yields to concentrate the fruit. The estate carries Saint-Émilion Grand Cru status. François Mitjavile, who owns Tertre Roteboeuf, also runs Château Roc de Cambes, a separate estate across the river in Côtes de Bourg.
