Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande lies at the southern edge of the Pauillac appellation, bordering Saint-Julien, close to the Gironde estuary. The property has belonged to the Rouzaud family, owners of Champagne house Louis Roederer, since 2006. It was ranked a Deuxième Cru in the 1855 Bordeaux classification.

The estate originates in a vineyard created at the end of the seventeenth century. In 1694, the founder's daughter married the Bordeaux politician Jacques Pichon Longueville, and the property took the Pichon name; in 1850 it was divided into the two estates now known as Pichon Baron and Pichon Comtesse. The Miailhe family bought the estate in 1925, and from the 1970s it was directed by May-Eliane de Lencquesaing. In 2006, de Lencquesaing sold a majority stake to the Rouzaud family, owners of Champagne Louis Roederer; Sylvie Cazes, co-owner of Château Lynch-Bages, ran the property from early 2011, and Nicolas Glumineau succeeded her as director in November 2012.

The vineyard covers 102 hectares across more than 100 plots in the southern part of Pauillac, on gravel rises over a clay subsoil. Cabernet Sauvignon is the main variety, alongside Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. A new vat room and cellar, designed by architect Philippe Ducos, opened in 2013 after a year of work; the estate began converting its vineyard to organic farming in 2021.
