The estate was long owned by Roland Thévenin before passing to a bank in 1984 and then to Crédit Foncier in 1989. Étienne de Montille, already co-proprietor of his family's domaine in Volnay, took over as managing director on 1 January 2002, and in June 2012 he and a group of partners bought the property outright. Since the 2017 vintage, its wines have been made and sold under the Domaine de Montille name.

Under de Montille's management, the vineyard was converted to organic and then biodynamic farming, unsuitable parcels were dropped, and yields were reduced to improve fruit quality. The estate also introduced open-top oak fermentation vessels and cut back on new oak so the fruit, rather than the wood, carries the wine. Its holdings include a parcel of under a quarter hectare in the Chevalier-Montrachet grand cru.
